Supporting Hank's requests... Dani

· I have decided to include you all in on this New feature request that I am also sending in to support?
· I will also try to include this NFR in the idea pond.
o Yes, I do pay for votes in the idea pond. (HEHE)
When you drop a database or restore a database, Toad-SS 5.6 gives you the opportunity to Close existing connections?
The code for each is distinctly different and the drop syntax is specific for that function. Sooo, this NFR is requesting the when you RENAME a DATABASE that the syntax for closing the existing connections also be used.
Now, just because I am ME, I NEVER EVER just run the Wizard, I always run the script in an editor session, So I have saved off Both the Drop set single user as well as the close connection, so I can use them.
I especially like the Set single user with rollback, for that would need to be included in the generated syntax.
Why I pull the syntax from the wizard is simple? Sometimes it is difficult to close all the connections, especially if the off-shore development group doesn?t so as requested, so sometimes I have to run the close all connections before the set single user.
So here is what I do, and I do not expect Toad-SS Development to take this much care and concern over a Rename, especially because they cannot perform the physical file name rename.
Lastly, It should be noted that I also rename the internal and external file names?
Here again, when you are dealing with over 30 databases with multiple (up to ten) MDF and NDF combinations on a Mega-server/instance Quad or 4 x ( Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E7-L8867 @ 2.13GHz, 2129 Mhz, 10 Core(s), 10 Logical Processor(s) ) system with 128 GB of ram, you kind-of-sort-of have to keep things tidy and neat so that the file names don?t get out of hand.
· Please note this is a DBA function outside the scope of this NFR request. Soooo!, Please read and learn from the code sent, it works quite well and you would have to experimented with if you chose to use it in your enviroment?!!!
